HERE WE GO AGAIN, TERROR STALKS THE AISLES IN THE AIR

Hmmm, I'm not one for conspiracy theories but...mid-term elections in the USA...embattled American President...terror alert...lots of grand pronouncements about the threat we face.

And this is the world Tony Blair delivered us into: fear, bomb threats, dubious alerts in bizarre language that says nothing to no one ('MI6 has said there is a 'very real' threat of a terrorist incident' - as opposed to?!) and a perfect opportunity to ratchet up international tension when the mood arises.

Umm, not to be argumentative or anything but the above is pretty much a conspiracy theory. Just FYI and all. Even if you want to go all paranoidy and consider that GWB was just the guy to do something like this(which would be wrong on an entirely higher level), you have to remember that the American people don't as a whole consider Obama to be a National Security type of guy. Nor is this election about Foreign Affairs. He has nothing to gain from amping up the fear factor as it does nothing to mollify his enemies and even worse nothing to hearten his potential natural supporters who are also not National Security types.
No-one in the USA is even thinking about this affair at the moment. They are all just wondering how much of Obama's Presidency will be left when Wednesday arrives.
And the answer ----- not very much.

  2. Points taken but I tend towards cynicism when it comes to our Atlantic allies.
